Remember These When Decluttering Your House

house

Funny as it may seem to be for most people nowadays, the fact remains that there will come a point in our lives where we just want to clean our house extensively for the sake of – well, just cleaning our house extensively.

But then again, let’s not forget about the fact that us wanting to clean our house extensively can be due to life throwing rocks at us in the form of relentless reports at work that can make one take a breather like someone who just lost a beloved family member and even bad breakups that can make one do the same – but this time, grieving for his own heart – triggering our very own version of compulsiveness and making us want to do things like those mentioned above more than usual, which can sometimes go way beyond than what we should only do for a period of time.

Thus and no matter the reason of doing it, remember these when decluttering your house:

Take it easy.

Decluttering your house may just be a single task for you to do especially during your free time, but it’s something that requires you to be physically conditioned enough to last the whole day without getting pained easily. The reason for this is quite simple. It will involve you carrying things back and forth, as well as moving things around and again.

So, take it easy. There’s really no point in getting yourself physically exhausted to the limit if you’re looking to take a breather from those relentless reports at work as mentioned above, you know?

Follow your heart.

Yes, you read that right. Just like how you followed your instinct to get away from an unhappy relationship despite how bad the breakup will be, you should also follow your heart when it comes to decluttering your house the way you want it to be or – especially in the case of real-life heart matters – the way you need it to be: light, free from that unnecessary baggage that you just left lying around and tripping you down to the ground.

And of course, there’s the power of tools such as those used for bench grinding to make you even more inspired to do what you want to do with your house – and ultimately, help you get over what you should get over with.

And there you have it, ladies and gentlemen…

Just remember these when decluttering your house and doing so won’t feel like a heavy chore that most people think it only is.

6 Ways to Keep Your Home Exterior Tidy

Check your roof

You don’t have to go up immediately; you could always grab your binoculars and check the roof while in a safe place. If there are parts that should be replaced, you should tend to them without delay. Of course, only if you can handle the replacement, if not, do call a handyman instead.

Keep your driveway and deck clean

The best way to clean them is by using a pressure washer! Of course, mind the safety precautions. Make sure they’re free from dirt and dust. When washing the deck, don’t forget to move the pressure washer spray continuously because if you rest in a spot for a long time, it could damage the surface. After pressure washing, apply a waterproof sealer on the driveway and a wood preservative on your deck to help hinder water damage as well as discoloration.

Fix your garden beds

Add a new layer of mulch to your garden beds to make them look clean and pleasing to the eyes. You could also gently rake the surface if the mulch layer is still around 3 inches deep. Raking can remove the compacted look your beds have.

Get rid of hanging branches and faded flowers

If your trees have branches that need to be cut, then, by all means, trim them! I’m extra kind today, so I’ll share with you my favorite gas pole saw. Moving on, you should also keep your garden clean by getting rid of the flowers that are no longer blooming.

Dejunk your gutters

Don’t forget to clear those dirty gutters too! You might need an old chisel to scrape off the old caulk out if there are cracks at the seams. To prevent water from proceeding behind the gutters and rotting the boards, you also need a new bead silicon sealing.

Maintain the gate or fences

Don’t forget your front liners! Your gate or fences could’ve been screaming for a new paint color or repairs without you hearing them! Clean them and make sure they’re still keeping the house safe. If necessary, give them an upgrade.
